Welcome to Dowgill House
Tim & Helen offer a warm Yorkshire welcome to Otley and all that Wharfedale has to offer, whether you are visiting family, here for a break or on business.
Our Georgian Grade II Listed townhouse dates back to 1753 and is situated in the heart of the Yorkshire market town of Otley. Sympathetically renovated between March and November 2008 and retaining many of the original features and charm of its colourful history, Dowgill House offers four individually designed and furnished en-suite rooms.
We have a comfortable guest lounge for you to relax in, where you can sit and chat with family and friends or just quietly read and enjoy a glass of complementary port.
Breakfast is included and we are certain you won’t be disappointed with the locally sourced fare we offer.
We are ideally situated to explore elegant Harrogate, cosmopolitan Leeds, industrial Bradford and yet the fabulous Yorkshire Dales are also on our doorstep.
You can reach us by car, train and plane as we are situated 2 miles from Menston railway station and Leeds/Bradford Airport is only 3 miles away.
We have parking available for four cars, one space per room, which is offered free of charge. There is also additional free parking in the nearby public car park.
As traditional market towns go Otley has a lot to offer, whether for a short break or a longer stay it’s a great base for exploring our part of God’s Own County.
Take a stroll around our quaint cobbled streets, yards and alleyways, browse our many independent shops for antiques, unique gifts, art, jewellery and bustling regular markets. Sample an award-winning pork pie and a pint of good Yorkshire ale in one of our many historic pubs.
Take a stroll by the river Wharfe or even a trip in a rowing boat. The view from the top of the Chevin up the Wharfe valley to the Dales, across to York minster, the windmills of Ovenden Moor above the Halifax Pennine foothills and down to the towering Emley Moor mast reward the hike up. Cyclists can follow in the tracks of the Tour de Yorkshire and the epic Tour de France ‘Grand Depart’ of 2014.
